SOULED AS SEEN

Souled as Seen are a ten-piece soul band, featuring a four-strong horn section, funky rhythm section and ‘two of the best soul singers in the business’. They perform classic songs from the Motown and Atlantic soul era, plus disco and party favourites. Previous high-profile events that they have performed at include Sir Alex Ferguson’s Testimonial Dinner at Manchester’s G-Mex, Manchester United Players’ Millennium New Year’s Eve party, Louise and Jamie Redknapp’s Charity Ball in Liverpool and Jools Holland’s Blackpool concert.

The Souled as Seen band includes Larry Edwards, also known within the Valley, especially in Whitworth, for his direct involvement in The Fudge Factory.

This event is to raise money for the Mayor of Whitworth, Councillor Jim Mellor’s chosen charities, which this year will be organizations working with young people in the town.

Souled as Seen will be supported by DJ Gavin. Doors open at 7.30pm, and tickets cost £12.50 and are available from Whitworth Civic Hall (854130), the Fudge Factory (852795) and the Gas Shop (854257). Tickets are expected to be popular for this event so early booking is advised

Chatherine's Crusaders are hosting this fund-raising event for Rosemere Cancer Foundation in memory of former Haslingden High School pupil, Catherin Kearney, who died in November 2005.

The money raised is to boost the work of the centre, based in Preston where she was treated. Her mother, Joan, and a group of supporters have continued to raise funds, and have so far over £34000 contribution.
