The Importance of Being Earnest
Jack Worthing keeps his town life separate from his country life by pretending to be his own (imaginary) brother, Ernest, when in town. When Jack’s mischievous friend, Algernon, decides to visit Jack’s home posing as Ernest, confusion follows. Mistaken identities can only be resolved through discovering the origins of a large black handbag! Wilde described this play as: ‘exquisitely trivial, a delicate bubble of fancy, and it has its philosophy.... that we should treat all the trivial things of life seriously and all the serious things of life with sincere and studied triviality.’

Contrasts - Paintings by Donald Holden and Lesley Turner
by Progressive Threads
Donald's work is based on his reactions to the landscape, both natural and man made, producing work which lies somewhere between abstract and representational. Its basis in accurately observed features emphasises the particular, conveying something of the original stimulus through the images created.
Lesley Turner's paintings focus on unusual abstract qualities of the area's countryside, architecture and industrial heritage. She enjoys transferring her ideas into thought provoking visual experiences, influenced by her favourite artists, Picasso, Matisse, Bridget Riley and Victor Vasarely.
