Cafe Tor celebrates anniversary in great shape
Date published: 25 April 2009
Just about one year ago, Dennis and Cath Worthington made a big decision to open up a new cafe alongside Musbury Fabrics in Helmshore. It was a very different proposition from the one that Dennis had run in Rawtenstall for a number of years, while Cath was in the latter stages of her 36 year career as a primary school teacher.
Now, one year on, Cafe Tor is a buzz of animated conversations as an extended seating area is pretty much filled every lunchtime with groups of regular customers and new ones too. 'Some days, there are people queuing up to get a table, it's so popular', commented one member of staff.
Cath, who is really enjoying her new career in catering, said: ' We have a lot of regulars who used to come to the previous cafe, including a group of 80 year olds from Bacup who catch the bus here every Tuesday afternoon! But we also have a lot of 'new' regulars, who started to visit when we opened up, and have stuck with us'.
One of those 'new regulars' is Brian Carter and his wife Barbara. Brian first popped in out of curiosity when Cafe Tor first opened, and now has a treat there two or three times a week. ' It's good food, there's a good choice, the staff are friendly, and we've never had a bad meal here. I'd be happy to recommend this place to anyone.' he said.
Cath added: ' We've had a really good year. We've had to extend the seating area already, and we love seeing our regulars, and getting to know people'.
Indeed, Cath and Dennis have a team of loyal and friendly staff working with them, and they do have a warm and friendly outlook. Cath clearly relishes the opportunity to 'banter' with her customers, and they clearly can't get enough of Cafe Tor!
Cafe Tor is open 7 days a week, and all the food is freshly made or purchased every day, using local suppliers.
