'New to Rossendale' businesses buck trend

Date published: 31 October 2009

Valley-based property firm, Hurstwood, has introduced two new businesses to Rossendale. Marketing entrepreneur Phil Clavering, and soft furnishing experts Easi Blinds Ltd, have both moved to Haslingden to expand their businesses.

Speaking after his move to the Three Point Business Park, Mr Clavering said: “I needed more space and Three Point was exactly what I was looking for.

“I’ve also just set up a new business promoting organisations such as the NHS through billboard advertising on vehicles, and this is the ideal location to start from.

“Hurstwood has been a fantastic support and I’m hoping that if the new business takes off as expected, we can continue to work with Hurstwood and rent more units from them.”

The news has come less than a month after 35 new jobs were created at Global Technologies in New Hall Hey Business Centre, another Hurstwood stronghold.

Hurstwood management say they are celebrating a purple streak, securing 12 business-letting deals every month.

Clive Balchin from Rossendale chamber of commerce said: “It's excellent news that businesses and companies are being encouraged to come and stay here in Rossendale.

“These deals underline the fact that it is an a great location for business. The real good news is that these deals will help the local economy too."

Easi Blinds Ltd has moved into the Courtyard development in Haslingden from Bury and will continue manufacturing blinds, curtains and soft furnishings as well as launching a showroom.

It is understood over a dozen jobs will be created at the initial opening of the new businesses.

Other companies which have moved into the Valley through Hurstwood propeties include Community Voice, Bi Folding Door Company, Total Vibrations Solutions, Dhongens and M&F Interiors.
