Rossendale is food lover’s paradise

Food lovers, living in and visiting Lancashire, who are looking for the guarantee of good food, should head to Rossendale.

Rossendale now has the biggest cluster of restaurants that have been awarded the ‘Taste Lancashire’ quality marque by the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board.

A total of 28 restaurants in the borough have successfully demonstrated high standards in the food they serve. Four of the restaurants have also been awarded the ‘Highest Quality Assured’ level of accreditation demonstrating a commitment to excellence. These include The Bizzy Plaice in Edenfield, Nino's in Rawtenstall, The Fisherman’s Retreat in Shuttleworth and La Veranda in Haslingden.

‘Taste Lancashire’ assessments are made by a mystery caller who assesses factors such as cleanliness, friendliness, service and food quality. Restaurants must also provide a consistently high quality dining experience and show a commitment to using local produce.
Five of the restaurants, serving international food, have also received the ‘Taste Lancashire International’ award - Nino’s, Mario’s, Casa Tapas, Ashoka and Red Chilli.

All businesses awarded the Taste Lancashire’ quality marque receive a certificate and plaque to inform customers of their award and are also eligible for a package of marketing benefits through being part of the scheme.

There are two types of award - Highest Quality Assured is awarded to businesses which achieve an overall score of 80% or above; Quality Assured is awarded to businesses which achieve an overall score of 60%-79%.

Rossendale’s Tourism Champion, Cllr. Jason Gledhill said:

“We have some really great places in Rossendale for people to eat out. It’s very encouraging that so many local cafes and restaurants have shown their commitment quality by working to achieve the Taste Lancashire’ award standard. Rossendale really is the tastiest place in Lancashire for food lovers.”
