Council waste plans pulled

Date published: 02/07/2009

Rossendale Council’s plans for a waste bulking-up depot at Henrietta Street have been dropped.

Cllr. Peter Steen, Environment Portfolio Holder for Rossendale Council said:

"Consultation has been ongoing in relation to the change of use of a garage at Henrietta Street, to a facility to process dry recycled waste. The consultation period was extended to enable all residents to 'Have their say'. The Council would like to thank all those people who have contributed and expressed their views. In particular, the Council is grateful to those local residents who visited Stubbylee and established the facts in relation to how the process would work.

"The consultation period has now closed, the Council has listened and considered all the comments made and has decided not to proceed with its application.
