Police warn we never give up looking – we will find you

Date published: 07/02/2010

LANCASHIRE Constabulary has seen a reduction in the number of people who are classed as unlawfully at large.

Statistics published by the Home Office last week show that the number of people wanted on prison recall in Lancashire has dropped from 13 to 12 and that there are currently no emergency recalls outstanding anywhere in the County.

Over 200 people who were wanted for breaching the terms of their licences have been arrested in just the last six months by Lancashire Police and over 430 have been returned to prison over the last 12 months.

Assistant Chief Constable Andy Rhodes said, “There are always active lines of enquiry into each individual who is wanted on prison recall and we never give up on tracking these people down.

“Ensuring the safety of the community is a key concern for us and we will do everything we can to work hard with partners and other force areas to share information and keep on top of those who choose to disregard licence conditions or fail to appear when they are due before a court. I hope this will reassure the public that we have a high success rate of catching up with these people and that we are serious about bringing offenders those to justice who need to be put before a court for punishment.”

Anyone with any information about someone who is wanted on recall can contact police on 08451 25 35 45 or via Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
