Date published: 16 July 2008
POLICE are asking motorists to be on their guard following recent thefts of Nissan Micras in Rossendale.
The latest theft was of a white Nissan, registration N563 CKC, stolen from Market Street, Edenfield, between 11.30pm on Sunday and 9am on Monday.
A red one, registration, L154 JRN, was taken from Bury Road, Rawtenstall, between 11pm on Sunday and 7.15am on Monday.
Crime prevention officer PC Phil Buck said: “We have had a noticeable number of Micras stolen in recent days.
“They are thought to be quite an easy car to break into and we thing offenders are coming over from Greater Manchester to joyride these vehicles.
“Where possible, could drivers keep their vehicles in a locked and secure garage – if not they should park them under a street lamp or illuminated place.
"These cars are a definite target at the moment.”
