Date published: 07 October 2008

POLICE in Burnley are renewing their appeals for information to help trace a vulnerable missing man.

Geoffrey Benton, 42, of Wycoller Avenue, Burnley, has not been seen since 8am on Friday (October 3) when he visited a newsagents in Lyndhurst Road, Burnley.

Mr Benton suffers with epilepsy and police are becoming increasingly concerned because he has not taken his medication. He suffered an epileptic fit on Thursday evening and received treatment in Royal Blackburn Hospital but did not return home.

Although he was seen on Friday morning in the newsagents, police are concerned for his safety.

Inspector Viki Crorken said: "Mr Benton is a vulnerable adult and we are very concerned for his welfare.

"He has not taken his medication with him so we are appealing for anyone who has seen him or knows his whereabouts to contact us."

Mr Benton is described as white, 5ft5ins tall, with short dark wavy hair. He is of stocky build and speaks with a North West accent.

He was last seen wearing a black and white checked shirt, grey trousers, black shoes, and we believe he is also wearing a navy zip-up kagoul and carrying a money pouch.

Anyone with information should call Burnley Police Station on 01282 425001.
