'Good to grow' for Haslingden centre

HUNDREDS of people discovered what is happening in Rossendale at an awareness raising event designed to boost usage of Haslingden Community Link. 

The unique project, borne out of a Victorian primary school, is serving the needs of young and old in the Rossendale West area. 

It is also looking to expand its services and invited groups and potential users into the centre to find out what it can offer. 

More than 130 people attended an invite-only launch with an equal number coming along to the open afternoon at the 10-year-old Bury Road project. 

Everything from health initiatives to independent living, video creation to Rossendale Radio was represented. 

Head of centre Barry Payton said: “It was a tremendous success and I am delighted that so many people have seen the worth of Haslingden Community Link and what we can offer now and for people in the future.”
