Round Table street collects nets £2,000 for Children In Need
Date published: 23 November 2009
Rossendale’s Round Table took to the streets once more in their now
traditional contribution to Children In Need.
The group raised £2,137.67 with a bucket collection of motorists in
Rawtenstall at the Tub Bridge junction.
Chairman Dave Howarth said: “We have been doing this collection for
Children In Need for more than 25 years and we have never failed to be
impressed by the generosity of the people of Rossendale.
“We had a great turnout from our members who gave up their time to
help with the collection. And it was a real Rawtenstall effort. The
Deli on Bank Street helped keep us warm by supplying us with free tea
and coffee, while Rossendale Transport saved us hours by letting us
borrow their counting equipment.
“We are absolutely delighted to have hit the £2,000 mark. I think it
is an indication of just popular Children In Need has become.”
