Police Tackle Speeding Concerns for Local Residents
Date published: 16 February 2010
Neighbourhood Policing Officers in Weir have responded to residents concerns about speeding motorists by carrying out enforcement activity.
Following feedback at PACT meetings, they have been conducting speed checks on Burnley Road Weir where two fixed Penalty Notices have been handed out to motorists caught exceeding the speed limit.
Community Beat Manager PC Richard Paddon said: “We share community concerns about speeding because experience tells us that excessive speed can be a contributory factor to injuries on our roads.
“The main problem in this area of Weir is that the limit changes from 40mph to a 30 zone and people are just not slowing down.
“We will continue to conduct speed enforcement in this area until we drive this issue home. The speed limit is 30 for a reason”
