Date published: 25 February 2010

Older people in Rossendale are being urged to get involved in the Rossendale Senior Advisory Group which is campaigning to improve the quality of life for older people in the borough and give older people a voice.

The group was formed six years ago and has been supported by Age Concern, Rossendale Council and Lancashire County Council, as well as other local agencies such as Green Vale Homes and the fire and police services.

Meeting are monthly and new members are welcome. People who don't want to go to regular meetings can still get involved by becoming Associate Members - receiving meeting minutes and getting voting rights.

The group also offer free computer lessons to people who are over 60 years old and have negotiated a discounted rate for toenail cutting.
