Consultation on new leisure facilities begins.

Date published: 07 July 2010

The Council, Rossendale Leisure Trust and Mouchel have been working together to move forward the plans for £5.6m investment in Leisure Facilities in the Borough.

Mouchel has conducted site surveys and refined outline plans for the new swimming pool at Haslingden Sports Centre and the addition of a fitness suite, 5-a-side pitches and the improvement of the swimming pool at Marl Pits.

Open Consultation sessions will be held for residents to view the proposals so far, prior to the submission of any planning applications, so that residents can find out more and get involved in the process.

Cllr. Jason Gledhill said “this is an exciting stage in the project development and we would welcome comments on the proposals from users of our leisure facilities and other residents. This is an important stage in the work that is happening behind the scenes to make sure these projects happen.”

These will be held on:

· Monday 12th July, drop in session 4pm – 7pm, at Haslingden Leisure Centre

· Thursday 15th July, drop in session 4pm – 7pm, at Marl Pits

Representatives from Mouchel, Rossendale Borough Council and Rossendale Leisure Trust will be at the sessions to talk to residents about the proposals.

Information will also be available on the Council’s website from 13th July.
