Flixton 2 v 2 Rossendale United
Date published: 19 August 2010
The return of Micky Graham to Dark Lane saw Rossendale post their first point of the season but in truth with the amount of chances they created the outcome should have resulted in the first league win of the season.
In the first five minutes with Hart and Doherty going close and then McNally firing just wide having being played in by Doherty.
Flixton then gradually eased into the match and, as usually is the case, Rossendale paid for their lapses in front of goal as Mulholland latched onto a rebound from keeper Brocklehurst to give the home side the lead.
The Dale responded and a defensive error let in Hart but Hitchen in the Flixton goal retrieved the situation with a fine save.
Whatever what was said at half time certainly worked as within the first two minutes of the half Rossendale drew level when Matt Walsh worked his way into the box beat two defenders and placed the ball wide of the keeper.
Flixton took the lead again when a long through ball caught the Dale rearguard napping and Mullholland nipped in to place the ball past Brocklehurst. Several chances to put the scores level but were spurned and Brocklehurst had to be on his toes on more than one occasion to keep Rossendale in the game.
With time running out Jason Hart chased down what appeared to be a lost cause and war rewarded for his efforts when he beat the3 advancing Hitchen to the ball and lobbed the keeper to put the scores level with only a minute to go.
