Major boost for rescue team funds

Haslingden based Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team has just received a major boost to its funds with the donation of £40,000 from the East Lancashire Mark Master Masons.
The organisation also made similar donations to neighbouring mountain rescue teams in Bolton and Oldham allowing all three teams to replace old vehicles.
Chairman of the Rossendale & Pendle Mountain Rescue Team, Graham Dalley, said: "This couldn't have happened at a better time. We were wondering how we were going to fund a replacement vehicle as one of our existing Land Rover ambulances is getting a bit long in the tooth. This donation will cover the cost of a brand new Land Rover Discovery ambulance which we have now ordered for delivery in December - I can't tell you how grateful we are for what I believe is the largest single donation in the team's history."
The volunteer Team covers an area of over 350 square miles in East Lancashire and Greater Manchester. During the period of snow in December and January team members attended around 100 incidents, one and a half times as many as they would normally have attended in a whole year.
