Voters in Rossendale are being encouraged to use their vote in the Local Elections on Thursday, 1st May. Between now and voting day, local people will see a large poster on the side of one of the Council’s trade refuse vehicles. The poster says: ‘use your vote, don’t waste it’.
Joanne Smith, the Council's Elections Manager, said: "The vehicle covers the town centre, so lots of people should see the poster.
"Voting in Local Elections allows local people to have a say about who represents them in the Council."
Elections take place in the following wards because the term of office for one of their councillors expires:-
Cribden Janet Graham (Conservative) Eden Darryl Smith (Conservative) Facit and Shawforth Lynda Barnes (Conservative) Goodshaw Dorothy Farrington (Labour) Greenfield Gladys Sandiford (Conservative) Greensclough Judith Driver (Conservative) Hareholme Amanda Hewlett (Labour) Helmshore Joyce Pawson (Conservative) Irwell Tina Durkin (Labour) Longholme Alison Tickner (Conservative) Whitewell Tim Nuttall (Liberal Democrat) Worsley Duncan Ruddick (Independent)
Polling hours are 7am to 10pm and the counting of the votes takes place on Friday 2nd May.
