Haslingden and Helmshore Brass Band provided some storming entertainment for the St Georges Day Prom at St Marys Chambers, Rawtenstall on Friday night, in aid of Rossendale Hospice

The Band, in line for national honours later this year, and led with great skill by guest conductor, Paul Andrews,  provided a feast of musical styles, from South American to traditional English, and of course, concluding with the well-known favourites from any Last Night of the Proms. Their passionate and soul-stirring rendition of An American Trilogy was a highlight of their performance.

The band then played second fiddle as the audience provided the voices for a grand sing-along medley of some old favourites.

Over 150 people enjoyed the experience and a record  £510 was raised for Hospice Funds. The evening, arranged by Terry Johnson, was a great success, enjoyed by all. Terry, thanking everyone for their contribution, promised that this new event on the calendar would be repeated next year, and hoped the Band would return to provide more outstanding musical entertainment.
