Ossett Albion 1 v 1 Rossendale United
Rossendale continued to ring the changes and introduced three new signings to their line up.Within the first ten minutes one new boy Josh Mitton made an immediate impact with two efforts when he turned in the box and firstly forced a corner and then saw his second effort smartly saved by Lee Ashforth in the Ossett goal.
Both sides played fast and furious football but goal scoring opportunities were few and far between as both defences seemed well in control.
Ossett however thought they had taken the lead in the 17th minute only to see the assistant referee’s flag raised and the “goal” disallowed.
Not to be outdone Josh Mitton did get the ball in the net a few minutes later but again the effort did not stand because of an offside decision.
With half time approaching Ossett forced a series of corners and Tom Brocklehurst had to be on his toes but he and the rest of the defence were up to the task and the game remained score less at half time.
The second half continued at the same pace as the first and chances were being created at both ends and Rossendale had perhaps the best when the ball fell to Jason hart on the edge of the box but his effort was wide of the mark.
With the ninety minutes up a score less draw was looking inevitable and when the referee indicated three minutes added time no one could have predicted what was about to happen.
As was the case the previous Saturday Rossendale fell behind to a 92nd minute’s goal when a free kick on the edge of the box was not cleared and the ball fell to full back Kyle Cook who beat Brocklehurst’s despairing dive to find the corner of the net and it looked like once again all the hard work leading up to this point was to be for nothing.
However Rossendale gained their just desserts when in the 93rd minute an attempted clearance by the Ossett defence fell to the feet of Jason Hart and his finish into the top corner must be a contender for goal of the season and would have beaten three keepers never mind the one.
