Unibond League Division One North
FC Halifax Town 2 v 0 Rossendale United

For much of the game Rossendale produced a determined rearguard action and with Tom Brocklehurst performing heroics with a string a magnificent saves for a time it looked like they would come away from The Shay with a welcome point in the battle to climb away from the foot of the table. However, it was not to be and in the 70th minute Halifax were awarded a penalty when Winters was pulled back in the box and James Dean stepped up to put them in front from the spot.

As the game progressed the persistent fall of snow made conditions difficult for both sides and with the pitch marking becoming increasingly difficult to see the referee did well to see the game out to a finish.

This did not benefit Rossendale as Halifax went two goals in front when Mark Peers scrambled the ball home at the third attempt as first Brocklehurst made one of his many saves and then the ball was cleared off the line only for Peers to pounce.

With the game deep into added time Halifax were awarded another penalty when Brocklehurst brought down Baker but this time he more than made amends with yet another fine save and this proved to be the last action of the game as the referee blew the final whistle as the penalty was saved.
