Rossendale United Win
Date published: 10 July 2010
A last minute arrangement saw Rossendale United start their pre season programme with an away game at Ashton Athletic on Saturday afternoon.
Ashton, managed by ex Rossendale stalwart Chris Brooks and his assistant Ian Barker, were always going to provide still opposition with the likes of David Eatock and Neil Smith trying to put one over on their former club and they battled hard right from the off. However Rossendale’s new faces fitted in well and they were good value for their one goal win by courtesy of a long range effort from Rob Whatmore and with several more signings in the pipeline things are beginning to take shape for the coming season.
This Saturday (17th July) at 3pm Rossendale United has their first home friendly of the season when we entertain newly promoted Rochdale at Dark Lane. This will be Rochdale's first game in England as a Division 1 team and their Manager Keith Hill is expected to field a very strong line up. For the last 2 seasons he has played his full first team squad.
Entry is £6 adults and £3 concessions.
