Denominational Transport Consultation

Officers will soon be on hand to help parents with any questions they may have about the proposal to introduce a charge for travel to church schools.
Lancashire County Council is currently holding a consultation about proposals to seek a contribution of £2 a day from parents towards transport to faith schools.
The charges would only apply to new pupils starting school from September 2011 onwards, and who wished to attend a denominational school which is not their nearest school.
The consultation is due to finish on (17 September 2010).
To help parents who may have questions which they need answering before responding to the consultation, officers will be available at the following locations for drop in sessions between 4pm and 6pm:

Wednesday 1 September Nelson Library
Thursday 2 September Rawtenstall Library
Friday 3 September Chorley Library
Monday 6 September Burnley Library
Tuesday 7 September Leyland Library
Wednesday 8 September Preston Library
Thursday 9 September Poulton Library
Friday 10 September Ormskirk Library
Tuesday 14 September Lancaster Library
Copies of the consultation document will be available at these sessions but in addition they can be downloaded from the county council's website www.lancashire.gov.uk. The document can be located from the A-Z by selecting 'C' then Consultations on Education.
Completed responses should be emailed to denom.review@lancashire.gov.uk or sent by post to Denominational Consultation c/o Pupil Access Team, PO Box 61, County Hall, Preston PR1 8RJ by 17 September 2010.
