UEFA Cup Plans by Lancashire Police

Lancashire Constabulary has launched an operation ahead of the Uefa Cup Final on Wednesday at the City of Manchester Stadium involving Glasgow Rangers.
Operation Hector has been launched to safeguard members of the public and travelling fans as 100,000 people are expected to either pass through or stay in Lancashire.
It is anticipated that many supporters will pack hotels and bars in Blackpool to watch the Glasgow giants take on Zenit St Petersburg. Their will extra patrols in the town centre and bar owners have been issued with advice.
Superintendent Peter O’Dwyer, who is leading the operation said: “We are expecting around 100,000 people and we will have extra patrols on the motorway network, motorway service stations and in the territorial divisions.
“The operation will make good use of force facilities and anyone who breaks the law will be brought to justice. I would urge all supporters to drink sensibly, behave, enjoy the game and generally have a good day
