Around 70 volunteers braved the windy heights of Peel Tower in Ramsbottom today, to raise money for the Anthony Nolan Cancer Charity, by abseiling down.
Each volunteer had a target of £100 minimum in sponsorship to achieve, and many exceeded this figure.
The Anthony Nolan Trust, which specialises in helping Leukemia victims, and bone marrow research, has benefitted by over £7000.
John Livsey, just one of the brave volunteers said that the views from the top of the tower were marvellous, and it seemed a lot higher from the top! He added: "Stepping over the wall onto the ledge was the scariest part, but the abseiling was really enjoyable, and good fun."
