Date published: 21/05/2008
A 24 hour walking event to raise the awareness of cancer issues and brings together groups of people from the local community.
This event celebrates survivorship of cancer, raises awareness of cancer issues and brings together groups of people from the local community that have been involves in fundraising for Cancer Research UK in previous months.
The teams walk around the track in Relay for the 24 hours and at nightfall a Candle of Hope ceremony is held to remember loved ones that have passed away and acknowledge the survivors of cancer.
It is a fun, free and unique event which is open to all members of the community and the organisers want people of all ages to join in the event and learn about the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. Members of Rossendale Sports Club are now recruiting for the relay, which is due to take place on Thursday June 5 at Marl Pits Sports Ground, Newchurch Road, Rawtenstall.
