New offering from Hospice
Date published: 06/06/2008
ROSSENDALE Hospice is now accommodating people suffering from different conditions.
The hospice has identified that many people in Rossendale suffer from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease or advanced heart failure, which can be debilitating and life threatening.
The new day therapy service will be for patients suffering these conditions, with support also offered to families and carers.
The service will be provided on Fridays and will launch on June 13. If the trial is successful, the service could become permanent.
Transport will be provided by the hospice minibus, which can acc-ommodate wheelchairs.
Patients will be collected between 9.30am and 10am and returned home by 3.30pm, with lunch provided.
Mary Costelloe, clinical services manager said: "We are keen to develop our range of services..
"We've had a good year of fundraising, thanks to the generosity of the local population, and it is only fitting that we should invest some of the money that we have raised back into providing additional services for a needy group of patients."
If anyone thinks they or a member of their family may benefit from the new service they should contact the hospice on 01706 240084.
