New crackdown on drink driving

POLICE officers showed their intent to crack down on drink drivers with an early morning operation earlier this week in Bacup. 

The ANPR (Automatic Number Plate Recognition) team from the Pennine Police force conducted the operation, which is part of a month-long campaign, at Kingfisher Park, Newchurch Road, Bacup.

And they worked in conjunction with VOSA and Customs and Excise to incorporate an educational element at each check site.

Similar operations will be now be carried out in Rossendale on Sunday, June 15 and Nelson on Sunday, June 23.

And these will be followed by evening oper-ations in Burnley on Saturday, June 28 and Sunday, June 29.
