Roads review in Rossendale

A ROADS task force has been set up to address the state of Rossendale's highways.

County council leader Coun Hazel Harding has proposed the review committee amid ongoing concerns about the state of roads across the Rawtenstall, Haslingden, Bacup and Whitworth areas.

The task force will feature county and borough council represen-tatives including Alyson Barnes Bob Wilkinson, Judith Driver, Sean Serridge and June Forshaw.

Coun Barnes said: "This idea is long overdue and I want to ensure that all areas are covered by this."

Rossendale Borough Council leader Coun Tony Swain questioned whet-her the relatively low level of fund-ing afforded to the area was as a result of the high proportion of unadopted roads locally.
