Groundwork Trust Pennine Lancashire are behind a project which aims to create an Oral History of the Rossendale Valley. The project, which is being sponsored by The Heritage Fund, wants to capture the stories of life in the valley, both past and present, to help inform and educate future generations. A spokesman for Groundwork commented:
"We want everyone who has memories - perhaps growing up in the area, school days or work such as slipper making, textiles and quarrying etc. - to take part It is vital we record and preserve your memories before it is too late!
At the end of the project we will create a community resource for Rossendale people, as well as producing material to go into local schools and on a web site.
We are a friendly group and you will be most welcome to come along for a brew and we will record your memories for posterity! "
