Super Staff
All the teachers at Balladen School care for the pupils whether you're a tall Year 6 pupil or a small Reception pupil; so let us introduce you to the teachers starting with the head, Mr Sumner.
Mr Sumner
Mr Sumner is a kind, generous person. He's fun and friendly and has a good sense of humour. Mr Sumner is a very organised and kind man. He is funny and makes assemblies enteraining; we all look forward to his asemblies.
Mrs Cockings: Year 6
Mrs Cockings is a sweet and kind person who always understands our needs in the classroom. She always knows how to make us smile and makes lessons fun and exciting.Mrs Cockings is really good teacher because she is funny and if she was'nt here I would be doomed, and not as clever as I am now. It is a good job she is here. I think Mrs Cockings is a great teacher because she explains every thing to you if you dont understand the lesson. And she is getting everyone ready for the S.A.Ts...
Mrs Hodgkinson: Year 5
Mrs Hogkinson is a person who is very passionate about English. She loves poems and her favourite book is The Worst Witch by Jill Murphy from her childhood. What a good choice! She is a brilliant teacher. Year five are very lucky to have her.
Mrs Irvine: Year 4
Mrs Irvine is the Year 4 teacher and she is ace at PE; she loves to teach children sports and she likes to bring joy to the classroom. Every Friday, she does singing time and she encourages us to stay in tune! Mrs Irvine is a very nice teacher because she lets us have extra break time to get us ready to work, plus she does very good games with us and makes sure we understand out work like every other teacher does. Also she does really fun things in lesson and good jokes.
Mrs Pickup: Year 3
Mrs Pickup is the Year 3 teacher. At the start of the year, Mrs Pickup calms the children and puts their fears at rest and helps them make friends. She has a kind personality and she always likes to make the children smile.
Mrs Morton: Year 2
Mrs Morton is the Year 2 teacher. She helps the children get ready for the gruelling SATs at the end of the year and helps them prepare for the juniors. She has the privilege of having the oldest children in the infants. Year 2 are lucky to have a sweet and gentle teacher like her.
Mrs Whitford: Year 1
Mrs Whitford is the Year 1 teacher. She helps the children move from Reception into a working classroom. She does really well to be a teacher, as well as chairperson of the school council and she also runs the healthy eating scheme. She is a very good person and is always happy to help.
Mrs Hudson: Reception
Mrs Hudson is the Reception teacher and Assistant Head. She helps the children feel comfortable going to school and start school routines. She has a very kind and thoughtful personality and she will always give the children all the same amount of attention
Mrs Taylor: Reception HLTA
Mrs Taylor works in the Reception class and works in Year 1 on Friday. She does PE with them. She is a very polite and kind teacher and always looks out for the children's welfare. Mrs Taylor is a HLTA (stands for higher level teaching asistant).
Mrs Hall: Year 6 HLTA and PE
Miss Hall works with the Year six pupils and juniors in PE. She always does her best to make PE fun, exciting and interesting. She teaches Year 6 on Fridays and she challenges the pupils in their mental maths test.
Mrs Sullivan: Office
Mrs Sullivan works in the office; she is kind and helpful and she is the school Learning Mentor. She also runs our Eco Club. She is a busy bee and somehow she finds time to work with the Year 6 too!
Mrs Billington: Office
Mrs Billington works in the office and she is rushed off her feet doing paperwork and answering important phone calls. She is a sweet and gentle person and she always makes room for the children. We are very lucky to have her.
Mr Payne : Caretaker
Mr Payne is the caretaker and one of his jobs is to get the balls off the school roof. He keeps the school clean and tidy and he makes sure there are no hazards within the school grounds.
There are lots of other people who work at Balladen and do fantastic jobs. We haven't got enough time to mention them all but we didn't want them to feel left out.
